A META description tag ­ in your answer you should show both your description tag and the way you want the tag to look on a search engine result.

Correct syntax for the tag. The content of the tag should accurately describe the page in concise terms using 12- 15 words. Excess words should lose marks.

An example of how each page tag will look in a search engine is provided. This should be a realistic example.

Each page should contain a description tag.

Correct syntax for the tag.

The content of the tag should only use words, or phrases of 2 or more words, used on the page. Phrases of 2 or more words scores higher than single words.

3 entries of each word within a page is a maximum.

10 words in total or less. Extra words will lose marks.

Each page should contain a description tag.

An explanation of how words were selected is given. This must include references to topic relevance.

Answers will include preference for phrases and the need to fine-tune these entries.

Explain how to submit a website to a search engine.

The answer may be a sort report or a bulleted list.

The answer must include:

  • Search engine submission pages.
  • Checking inclusion by searching.
  • The use of advanced search facilities for checking.

Answers may include the use of submission software and / or submission services from specialist companies. Time delays in being listed are identified. When - For the first time with a new site. When a site is updated / changed. If the site was never listed. If the listing is dropped. Better answers will identify the problems associated with submitting too frequently.
