George Bernard Shaw George Bernard Shaw was born in Dublin in 1856, and died in 1950 at Ayot St. Lawrence, Hertfordshire. In 1925 George Bernard Shaw was awarded the Nobel Laureate in Literature "for his work which is marked by both idealism and humanity, its stimulating satire often being infused with a singular poetic beauty."
